As a Recruiter, you are in the business of selling jobs instead of merchandise. Your job is to make your company more appealing than the competition (within healthcare there is plenty of it). In order to sell more jobs, you have to build a relationship with the candidate and effectively persuade them that your position and organization is better.

The easiest thing to do, is to build a strong rapport with the candidate from the beginning.  Building rapport requires that you be sincere, trustworthy and demonstrate a willingness to listen to their needs. Building rapport is not something that everyone is good at and is a necessity in order to be an effective recruiter.

Be Professional. Being courteous, sincere and respectful at all times. When a person is interviewing with your company, they want to work with someone who genuinely cares about their well being and looks beyond what they bring to the table.

Find a Relationship. You have their CV/Resume already and you can easily discover common bonds, people that you both know, activities that you can relate to and more. By mentioning these key points will help break the ice and build more trust.

Learn their personality. If the candidate is direct and to the point then follow suit. Matching their behaviors, you are able to accommodate their needs better without offending them. The last thing that you want to do is "joke around" with someone who is very serious and who does not have a sense of humor.
